Election of Grand Master
On the proposal of W Bro David Rosin, and seconded by W Bro James Whitehead, HRH The Duke of Kent KG was re-elected Grand Master with acclamation.
Installation of Deputy Grand Master
R W Bro Peter Lowndes, PJGW, was installed as Deputy Grand Master by the MW The Grand Master.
Investiture of the Earl of Cadogan
The MW The Grand Master invested R W Bro the Earl of Cadogan, Past President of the Board of General Purposes as a Past Deputy Grand Master.
Investiture of President of the Board of General Purposes
VW Bro Anthony Wilson was invested as President of the Board of General Purposes by the MW The Grand Master.
Election of Metropolitan and Provincial Members of the Commission for Appeals Courts
Metropolitan: W Bros G. M. Silverman, C. R. Berry, E. D. Levy and R. W. Spon-Smith. Provincial: VW Bros J. F. Annear and R. J. Kay and W. Bros. R. J. Head and K.E.C. Howe.
President of the Board of General Purposes
The President said that the Masonic situation in Bulgaria has for some time been somewhat confusing, as there are two Grand Lodges with extremely similar names.
For this reason I wish to make it plain that the Grand Lodge which is the subject of the resolution for recognition is the Grand Lodge whose Grand Master is MW Bro Borislav Sarandev.
Brethren, since the Board's report was settled, we have been informed that it may
be the intention of the Grand Lodge of
France to consecrate a new Lodge here in
London to work Craft Degrees in French
under the Scottish Rite.
The Grand Lodge of France is irregular
and unrecognised. If this report is true, the
action represents a complete disregard for
the principals of territorial sovereignty
which are observed by all regular Grand
Lodges around the world, but which are
often breached by irregular Grand Lodges.
Clearly there must be no contact with
this Lodge, if it should be formed. All
members of our jurisdiction should be on
guard, therefore, to ensure that no member
of this irregular Lodge is permitted to visit
any of our Lodges, and any instance of
that happening should be reported to the
Grand Secretary at once.
I believe this may be an appropriate time
to remind Brethren generally that a list of
those Grand Lodges which this Grand
Lodge recognises is printed annually as an
Appendix to the Proceedings of the
December Quarterly Communication.
But I must also add this caution: that
circumstances do change, and it is important
tomake sure that the list being consulted is the
most up-to-date available. Inany case of doubt,
advice should always be sought from the
Grand Secretary's offce via the Metropolitan,
Provincial or District Grand Secretary.
Contributions to the Grand Charity
The Board recommends in accordance with
Rule 271, Book of Constitutions, that
contributions payable to the Grand Charity
in respect of each member of a Lodge in a
Metropolitan Area or a Province, or in
England and Wales that is unattached, for
the year 2005 shall be £7.50. No payment is
due in respect of members of Lodges
overseas. The Resolution was approved.
