Contributions to Grand Chapter
2007: The Committee recommendation
that the contributions (exclusive of VAT)
payable annually to Grand Chapter in
respect of each member of a Chapter in
a Metropolitan Area or a Province for the
year 2007 should remain unchanged at
£3.15 was approved.
2008: The Committee believed that it
would be able to recommend next year that
contributions remain unchanged in 2008.
Statement of Accounts
The audited Accounts of Supreme Grand
Chapter for the year ended 31 December
2005 were received and adopted as follows:
The operating results for the year ended
31 December 2005 show a surplus after tax
of £104,800 (2004: £103,300). In 2005
a donation was made to The Trust for
Research into Freemasonry at Sheffield
University of £50,000 (2004: £50,000).
No donation was made to the Library and
Museum Charitable Trust (2004: £50,000).
The Income and Expenditure Account
for this year includes the realised and
unrealised gains/losses on the investment
portfolio, which amounted to a net gain of
£473,100 (2004: £192,500).
This performance reflected the buoyant
year for financial markets. Investment
income saw a small reduction with the
£525,700 switch out of cash into equities
and hedge funds. The overall increase in
funds at the year end was £577,900 (2004:
£295,800) to £4,199,700.
Your Committee has recognised that
Supreme Grand Chapter should make a
contribution towards the costs of
maintaining the fabric of Freemasons’ Hall.
The annual contributions from Chapters
decreased by £29,700 in 2005 and only just
covered the Total Expenditure.
We also note that the apportionment of
the costs of Grand Lodge will increase
during 2006. Notwithstanding these factors,
your Committee is satisfied that the finances
of Supreme Grand Chapter continue to be
in a healthy state and it is hoped to continue
the dues at their present level for the
foreseeable future.
The staff at Freemasons’ Hall were
thanked for their hard work and support
over the last year.
Future Convocations
Future Convocations of Supreme Grand
Chapter will be held on Wednesday,
8 November 2006, Thursday, 26 April 2007
and Wednesday, 14 November 2007.
